We have adapted Flash to deliver video because of Flash's ubiquity. This is in contrast to the vast number of video on the internet which are deployed using formats like QuickTime and Windows Media Video or .MPEG which suffer from either requring plugin installed on users' computers or from bloated file size or, even worse, from inability for the video to be played in different operating system (e.g. WMV cannot normally be played in Macintosh computers).
